Bob Marley
Robert Nesta Marley was born near the village of Nine Miles
in Jamaica on February 6th
, 1945.
He died in Miami on May
11th
, 1981.
He was 36 years old.
Bob Marley began singing from an early age: he recorded his
first song Judge Not when he was 17 years old but it was not
successful.
Nevertheless he did not abandon music and in
1963 Bob Marley, Junior Braithwaite, Peter Tosh and Bunny
Wailer formed The Wailers.
Success took a very long time to come.
With the departure of Bunny Wailer and Peter Tosh in 1973
The Wailers became Bob Marley & The Wailers.
The same
year Bob Marley met Eric Clapton in Jamaica and the British
guitarist did a cover of “I Shot the Sheriff” which contributed
to the success of reggae music in the West.
In 1975, Bob Marley recorded his first major international
success: No Woman, No Cry in which he consoles a woman
affected by the violence of the ghetto.
Rastaman Vibration is
released in 1976 and it was his bestselling album during his
lifetime
