nyone over 40 knows that flexibility tends to
“go south” as we approach the autumn of life
(much like the birds!). if we don’t work on
maintaining flexibility, it decreases over time. When
flexibility decreases, movement becomes limited and
sports performance and daily activities become harder,
less enjoyable and even painful.
Chart a new course toward greater flexibility with as
little as 15 minutes of daily mobility work. i recommend a short daily routine that is easy, takes little time
and knowledge and yet leads to great gains. Joint range
of motion and muscle length can shorten up with inactivity and repetitive movements, so counteracting that
process requires a consistent daily habit of stretching.
Here are photos of 8 floor stretches to be performed
daily. Spend one minute or so with each stretch while
breathing slowly and deeply from the diaphragm. While
