Landscaping provides a helping hand to local Veterans
February 2, 2005 - When the Vietnam Veterans of San Diego hired landscape
architecture firm Nowell & Associates (N&A), they were looking for something more
than just landscaping.
They were looking to create a safe and healthy environment for
those who called the streets of San Diego home.
Gregory Nowell, ASLA, founder of
Nowell & Associate and a Certified Healthcare Garden Designer planned the new
Veterans Village to not only offer the veterans a beautiful place to live but also job
training and horticultural therapy.
We see them everyday sleeping in the dark corners of storefronts and standing at
stoplights.
What you don’t know about these homeless men and women of San Diego is
that over 2,000 of them once served our country proudly.
