Slaves were directly packed and crammed into the ships hold, below
the deck.
The journey took at least 2-3 months while slaves were
underfed.
It was such a predicament for them.
A majority of them were unsuccessful and lead the rebels to death.
Some of them didn’t make it to the West Indians.
The slaves’ travel
ended at the moment they arrived in the Caribbean.
During the XVIIIth century, we saw
the rise of a new kind of trade : the
slave trade.
Slaves ships started their journey in
Europe.
They were generally plenty
of goods as trading guns, alcohol,
clothes.
When they arrived on the
West African coast, they
exchanged slaves for goods.
Mercenaries tracked down
Africans slaves in many
regions.
Then they shackled
them and exchanged them
with the slaves trader for
weapons.
Living conditions were also
harsh and horrible.
They were
dehumanized and treated like
animals.
