As a pilot project, the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) has been operating eco-tourism at the Langoué Field Station (Langoué FS) in Ivindo National Park (Ivindo NP) since 2004. The primary aim has been to access the feasibility of this location for long-term tourism prospects. Written specifically for the Gabonese government, this report summarizes the development, the success and failures of the project, and makes recommendations to facilitate informed decision-making on tourism at Langoué or other protected areas in Gabon. Lessons learned in this pilot project can provide valuable information to shape future tourism projects in wild areas of Gabon.
