This is probably why some of the latest compacts show off interesting features, such as the Nikon Coolpix S1000pj with an onboard projector. However, one shooter has been exceptionally innovative. The Samsung ST550 comes with dual LCDs--one in front, the other at the back--and this is a practical solution for consumers who like to take self-portraits but can t frame them properly. Other than having two displays, the touchscreen-operated ST550 also has a wealth of features such as haptic feedback and a high-resolution screen that puts it at the top of its class. Using the camera involves spending a lot of time swiping and clicking away on the massive 3. 5-inch touch screen LCD and we re happy to say that we had no issues at all. The LCD is very responsive to even minor touches so you don t have to focus on making a pronounced stab to get the camera to react. The LCD also gives haptic feedback and this helps to boost confidence further. The menu system itself is intuitively designed and thus is very easy-to-use. That said you will be forced to use two hands to use some of the camera s features. The 3. 5-inch LCD isn t the only LCD on the ST55

High-end, feature-packed cameras are usually, frankly, a mess: flaky, oddball features, a Frankenstein interface of patchwork hideousness, an image quality that, ultimately, feels like an afterthought… But the Samsung ST1000 is different. It feels beautifully built – even if the decision to place the lens where it is means you re in danger of taking too many photos of your left index finger – and the 3. 5-inch touchscreen on the back is just stunning. It has super-high pixel density, great colour and the interface is actually usable without having to turn to the manual.
